Preschool
Preschool aged youth are learning and developing in preparation for kindergarten. There are lots of resources to support your child's continued learning, development and readiness to start school as well as to support the needs of your family.
Kindergarten Enrollment
You must bring the following documents:
•Photo ID of parent/guardian
•Child’s birth certificate or passport
•Proof of New Haven residency—a current utility bill or lease/mortgage papers with parent/guardian name on it
Know Your Rights: Kindergarten Entry Guide
As of July 2024, Connecticut law requires children to turn five years old by September 1st of the new school year to enroll in kindergarten. This guide will help you navigate the new eligibility law.
